Chizfab/Trampdrift.com Ford Sierra V6

Over the last year we have been building a top level drift car which is a bit different from the norm. It is based on an ex-taxi Ford Sierra Sapphire which now has a 24v 200bhp 2.9 V6 Quad cam cosworth in it.

The idea behind this car was to prove that a competitive drift car could be made on a budget, and didn't have to be turbo'd or Japanese. It has had the full treatment of safety features, such as a 6 point welded in cage with dual door bars, new harness mounting points and a plumbed in fire extinguisher and electrical cutoff. It also has custom Chizfab coilovers and a welded diff.

In 2007 it has was used in the EuroDrift Pro championships by Jarrack 'Jeek' Federico and did well for its first year. The car will have its niggles worked out over the winter in time to cause some more JDM upset in the 2008 British Drift Championship.

This BMW M3 is to be used by Rennie Morrocco in the British Drift Championship 2008, alongside Jarrack Federico’s Sierra 24v. It has been transformed from a road going family saloon to a track only drift machine to be used across the UK in 2008.

The car has been fitted with a 6pt weld-in roll cage, with optional harness bars and a single rear diagonal. The cage was created with a 50mm Main Hoop to comply with the tough Eurodrift regulations for 2007. Over the winter this cage is being upgraded by Chizfab with door bars in order to meet new regulations in 2008.

Chizfab Ltd also installed harness eyebolt mounting locations and also the fitting of a hydraulic handbrake which was custom mounted according to Rennie’s specifications.

Chizfab was chosen to manufacture the cage as there was no “off the shelf” package available for the E36 BMW, so through careful customer liason a product was developed that satisfied both Rennie’s wallet and the scrutineers at the British Drift Championship.

The car had only one competition outing in 2007, achieving an amazing 4th place in the British Drift Open pro class against some of the finest drifting talent in the UK.

Belonging to Dave Murray, this is another Tramp Drift car that was bought and prepared for competion in the amateur class of the British Drift Open in October 2007. Dave achieved a surprising 6th place finish, so with ambitions of competing in the pro class of the BDC in 2008, he brought his car to Chizfab to get it up to spec.

Modifications and repairs carried out by Chizfab so far include:

  • Full rear subframe reinforcement
  • Polybushing of rear subframe and trailing arms
  • Significant rust repairs
  • Installation of adjustable rear camber arms
  • Replacement of diff seals
  • Arch flaring to accomodate wider wheels
  • Installation of wheel stud kit
  • Modification of steering rack to gain more lock
  • Installation of a new exhaust system

In addition to this, the car will be receiving a roll cage and all the requisite safety equipment in January.
